<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Pretender modelizar la ocurrencia de catástrofes naturales puede resultar presuntuoso, pero cuando están involucradas vidas humanas, sus asentamientos y un gran volumen de valores económicos se presentan como un reto atractivo. En el marco de los convenios de colaboración entre ITSEMAP FUEGO y MAPFRE RE se está desarrollando un programa informático denominado Séneca, cuyos objetivos son la simulación de eventos naturales en España y el control de acumulación catastrófica. Ambas actividades se complementan para aportar a la gestión de empresas aseguradoras y reaseguradoras un asesoramiento en la cobertura de fenómenos de la naturaleza</abstract>
