<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El artículo estudia, en primer lugar, el proceso seguido en el mundo para conseguir una protección eficaz de la propiedad industrial, que evite las actuales distorsiones existentes en el comercio internacional de productos y servicios, como consecuencia de una insuficiente protección de la misma. Se examina en el artículo la inclusión de este tema nuevo en la Declaración de Punta del Este, para su negociación en la Ronda Uruguay. También se examinan las posiciones mantenidas por EEUU, Japón y la CE y las organizaciones empresariales de dichos países, así como las posiciones contrarias de los países en desarrollo para la inclusión de estas normas en el GATT y la posterior evolución de la negociación. El artículo examina brevemente la regulación en el acuerdo y sus implicaciones para las empresas españolas</abstract>
