<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En este trabajo se analizan los cambios acaecidos en la estructura del mercado español de seguros durante la década de los ochenta, especialmente a partir de la integración de España en la Unión Europea y la recuperación económica iniciada en 1985. A lo largo de su contenido se hace especial hincapié en cómo los cambios observados están coadyuvando a un acercamiento progresivo entre la estructura del sector asegurador en España y la de sus homólogos comunitarios, aunque en algunos aspectos la distancia es todavía importante. Entre estos cambios destaca una tendencia al incremento del peso del sector en la economía, a la reducción del número de empresas operando en el mercado y al aumento de los índices de concentración de la industria</abstract>
