MAP20071024524An Anthropometric study of Singapore candidate aviators / Jarnail Singh... [et al.]Sumario: Knowledge of anthropometric dimensions is an important requisite for the design of equipment, workspace, and workstation layout. The lack of comprehensive anthopometric data for design in the West has been considered as surprising in view of the advanced industrial mechanization. Data on the populace in the developing countries are even more scarce. One of the most complex workstations seen today is that of an aircraft cockpit. The bulk of military aircraft in use througout the world are built around the anthropometry of western aviators. The developing countries buy these aircraft off the shelf, and then go about trying to fit their aviators into a machine not initially designed for them. In view of these factors, this study was carried out with the aim of: obtaining anthropometric data for aviators in Singapore; and comparing these data with published data from USA, UK, Israel and JapanEn: Ergonomics. - London and Washington. - Vol. 38, nº 4, April 1995 ; p. 651-6581.
