Sumario: It is now common knowledge that the issue of the current and future financing of state (ie 1st pillar) pensions is already causing considerable concern in all EU Member states as indeed in almost all OECD countries. Memeber states of the EU have, for economic as well as for social reasons, encouraged early retirement over the last decade and a half, ther has recently been a change in policy towards reversing this trend
