The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mouse and trackball position on muscle tension levels, measure subjective levels of muscle tension awareness, and develop an objective methodology utilizing surface electromyography (sEMG) for assessing computer related disorders (CRD) risk factors related to pointing device use, and in desgining computer equipment and healthier computing practices. The authors investigated the occurrence of microbreaks, and the relationship between subjective awareness of muscle tension compared to objective measures of muscle tension
