<abstract>Existe una estrecha relación entre calidad total y planificación estratégica, que no se ven plasmados a menudo ni en la práctica ni en la teoría en las instituciones universitarias. Este artículo pretende recoger referencias que tanto en la teoría y como en la práctica se han dado para relacionar estos conceptos y justificar que, aunque no en la mayoría en la universidad española, si supone un proceso incipiente y que está siendo ampliamente difundido. Como todo cambio cultural es un proceso que lleva su tiempo pero al que se le está dedicando una creciente atención </abstract>
