<abstract>La renovación en 2003 de los contratos de reaseguro ha puesto de manifiesto la dificultad para cedentes y reaseguradoras de encontrar y ofrecer, respectivamente, capacidad en determinados ramos, lo que ha generado un notable incremento de precios. Las razones de este endurecimiento se relacionan con distintas causas. Por un lado, los efectos de las catástrofes, agravados por la crisis financiera y la incertidumbre en la evolución de los mercados.
