<abstract>Este artículo ofrece una revisión de la inversión directa extranjera de España en el período 1993-2002 bajo perspectivas hasta ahora apenas contempladas, como es la actividad de las Entidades Tenedoras de Valores en el Extranjero (ETVE) en manos de no residentes, cuyo efecto inmediato es la elevación de las cifras de inversión recibida y emitida por España, o la posibilidad de interpretar la inversión directa bajo nuevos parámetros: inversión bruta registrada, inversión bruta efectiva e inversión neta, así como calibrar el proceso seguido por España para llegar a ser un acreedor neto por inversión directa en los mercados internacionales</abstract>
