<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La brecha de protección del seguro representa la diferencia existente entre la cobertura de seguros que es económicamente necesaria y beneficiosa para la sociedad, y la cantidad de dicha cobertura efectivamente adquirida. el GIP-MAPFRE (Global Insurance Potential Index) es un indicador que ofrece una puntuación y un ranking que permite ordenar a los mercados aseguradores de acuerdo a la potencial contribución al cierre de la brecha de aseguramiento global (medida en puntos básicos del producto interior bruto global o como porcentaje del mecado asegurador total), haciéndola una métrica asimilable al concepto de "tamaño de mercado". Este indicador se ha calculado para un total de 96 mercados de seguros, tanto desarrollados como emergentes, permitiendo ofrecer una visión comparativa del potencial global de expansión de la industria aseguradora en los próximos años</abstract>
