<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Analyzing insurance potential requires integrating structural factors with the dynamics associated with closing the insurance gap. Within this framework, the Global Insurance Potential Index (GIP-MAPFRE) facilitates a comparison of the capacity of multiple markets to reduce the gap between actual coverage needs and the protection effectively contracted. This estimate is based on indicators that combine macroeconomic, demographic, and sectoral variables, as well as the initial magnitude of the gap in the Life and Non-Life segments. This approach not only measures the existing mismatch, but also assesses each economy's ability to make progress in correcting it, differentiating between consolidated markets, economies with sustained expansion, and countries where the potential to do so remains latent. The report also shows that the gap is heavily concentrated in emerging economies, reflecting low levels of insurance penetration and, at the same time, high growth potential. It also identifies markets with favorable dynamics that could climb up the rankings if they consolidate their closure process</abstract>
