<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The sharp drop in the price of oil on the international markets since 2014 has greatly impacted the economies of countries traditionally producing and exporting this commodity. The severity of the impact is directly proportional to the degree in which individual countries public finances depend on oil. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the sub-Saharan African countries most penalised by the adverse international climate in 2015 were Angola and Nigeria. In this piece, Paulo Varela, President of the Board of Directors of CCIPA (Portugal-Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry), outlines the issues facing Angola.</abstract>
