<abstract>The vast amount of computers, televisions, mobile phones and the like that are disposed of every year all contain a variety of toxic substances. When electronics are dumped in landfills, these substances can leach into the soil and groundwater. Given the sheer magnitude of e-waste generated each year, the problems that these toxins present increase exponentially as they progressively pollute the environment and threaten to enter the food chain</abstract>
