<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Nacido en Detroit en 1954, Sachs estudió Economía en Harvard, donde se quedó a enseñar y se convirtió en profesor titular con solo 28 años. Después de dirigir el Centro para el Desarrollo Internacional de Harvard, en 2002 Sachs se convirtió en líder del Earth Institute de la Universidad de Columbia, una organización de más de 850 profesionales en las áreas de ciencias naturales y ciencias sociales que trabajan juntos para abordar los complejos problemas que enfrenta el planeta. Ahora Sachs es director del Centro para el Desarrollo Sostenible de Columbia y presidente de la Red de Soluciones de Desarrollo Sostenible de la ONU. </abstract>
