<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This document is a handbook of practice for workplace exposure assessments conducted by industrial hygienists and is intented to provide a common language as well as a basis for professional practice. Industrial hygienists recognize, evaluate, and control potential workplace hazards so that all employees are assured a safe and healthful occupational environment throughout their working lifetimes. As today's workplaces grow more complex,new challenges abound for industrial hygienists. Evaluation of these complex situations requires a sound, logical workplace exposure assessment strategy to focus industrial hygiene and other occupational health resources on those work situations with the greatest potential for adverse health effects</abstract>
