<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The reinsurance sectors capital, underwriting and operating trends are expected to support reinsurers current ratings over the next 12-24 months. Fitch Ratings base case anticipates a further strengthening of the sectors already strong capitalisation. Nearterm earnings uncertainty continues to recede, in contrast to 2011, but the persistence of low investment yields and sustainability of prior-year reserve surpluses are expected to make it more challenging for reinsurers to maintain similar profitability levels in 2013 </abstract>
