According to both Aon and Munich Re, 2016 saw between $175-210 bn in insured losses. North America saw the most natural disasters since 1980, with massive wildfires and hirricanes among other catastrophes causing billions of dollars in damage. Flooding was the most costly peril around the globe in 2016, costing nearly 60% of total economic losses.</subfield>
