This arguably began in September 2015, with a speech by the then governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney that discussed the implications and risks arising from climate change. This was followed by the landmark Paris Agreement in November 2015, which set out the aspiration and need for the world to limit global warming to well below 2°C. Since then, the Bank of England, through the Prudential Regulation Authority, has pushed the climate agenda forward through consultations and new requirements for both UK insurers and banks.
