<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Certains reactions chimiques exothermiques sont difficiles à contrôler et conduisent parfois à des accidents graves. Une mesure de prévention efficace consiste à réaliser ces réactions sans aucune intervention humaine, à l'aide de dispositifs de contrôle automatique composés de capteurs d'actionneurs et de corrélateurs logiques. Le correlateur reçoit des capteurs les informations telles que température, pression, quantité de réactif..., les combine et décide de déclencher, lorsque certaines conditions sont réunies, des actions du type: introduction de réactif, élévation du bain froid pour refroidir le réacteur, etc. L'auteur présente deux exemples d'application à des nitrations et passe en revue les principaux appareils utilisés dans ces dispositifs de contrôle automatique</abstract>
