<subfield code="a">It is proposed that we are rapidly acquiring the means to measure a variety of human biomechanical responses during manual load lifting. The need to develop and validate more comprehensive biomechanical models of the low-back is presented. A description of the development of such a general purpose model using linear-programming methods is described. Use of EMGs of torso muscles to validate the model is discussed, along with the limitations of such approaches</subfield>
