<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This article presents the yearly analysis of fires incurring losses of £50.000 or more during 1992. The figures refer to mainland Britain and exclude Northern Ireland. All losses presented in this analysis are estimated figures provided by the insurers shortly after the fires occurred. The only exceptions to this are the losses at Windsor Castle and the military establishment in Wiltshire. These two losses are taken from published information. The information collated by the FPA is combined with data collected by the Home Office from fire brigades</abstract>
