<abstract displayLabel="Summary">España y Marruecos planean uno de los mayores proyectos de ingeniería del mundo contemporáneo, una gigantesca obra que uniría de nuevo Europa y Africa tras más de 200 millones de años de separación por la deriva de las masas continentales. Un túnel ferroviario o un puente colgante tenderían un lazo entre norte y sur a través del Estrecho de Gibraltar. Y parece que ambos Estados se muestran dispuestos a emprenderlo en un año cercano al 2025. Pero tambien saben que el proyecto de unión del Estrecho no puede ser comparable al resto de obras similares que se han culminado en otras partes del mundo. No existe ningún precedente sobre la unión de dos continentes y, por ello, las consideraciones no pueden ser sólo económicas. La importancia geopolítica de un enlace Europa-Africa puede justificar la realización del proyecto más allá de las puras leyes de la oferta y la demanda económica</abstract>
