<abstract>Media España vende seguros a la otra media. Este era el tópico más extendido cuando alguien preguntaba cuántos agentes hay en España. Según los datos de ICEA y UNESPA, la realidad no llega a tanto, pero sí demuestra el potencial de creación de empleo que tiene la distribución de seguros. Sin embargo, el número se va reduciendo en los últimos años: la presión de otros canales, las nuevas exigencias de alta en el RETA (Registro Especial de Trabajadores Autónomos de la Seguridad Social) y un cambio en la mentalidad de las entidades, que empiezan a apostar por agentes realmente profesionales, son factores que inciden sobre esta tendencia.
