As a matter of risk management, preventive inspections and maintenance can do much to stave off the inevitable failures, breakdowns and other mechanical mishaps that can bring most businesses -especially industrial and manufacturing operations- to a halt. But not all hazards are so easily identified, and if gone unnoticed, they set the stage for potentially disastrous problems down the line. Chief among these is corrosion, a process that causes great damage and if not given the proper respect, can be the risk profesional's worst nightmare
