<abstract>Hace más de un siglo se descubrió la existencia de radiaciones ionizantes que se han utilizado para el beneficio del hombre, aunque en un principio se hizo uso de ellas sin las debidas protecciones, lo que produjo ciertos efectos perjudiciales para la salud de los que en ello habían trabajado. Tras conocer los peligros que representa para el hombre, se ha creado una disciplina cientifico-técnica conocida como Protección Radiológica cuya función principal es hacer posible el uso y beneficio de las radiaciones ionizantes</abstract>
