<abstract>Premium growth in the insurance industry is affected by the overall economic situation, particularly in property/casualty insurance. In life and health insurance the market force is also influenced by changes in the legal and tax environment. Consequently, very different parameters prevail in the European insurance markets. There are currently only a few markets in which we are active where projections exist for 2006. We will therefore be concentrating in more detail on the trends in our home market of Germany in the following sections.</abstract>
