<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La preocupación por las consecuencias de los incendios en los túneles, de las cuales hemos sido testigos a raíz de los incendios sucedidos en Mont Blanc, San Gotardo, Tauern y Kaprun, con 221 víctimas mortales, a los que se suman incendios como el del Canal, que sin causar víctimas, provocan grandes pérdidas (en este túnel fueron 211 millones de euros), está llevando a un proceso de búsqueda de la seguridad contra incendios en dichas construcciones. Por ello se estudia la extracción de humos y salidas de emergencia, la protección de instalaciones eléctricas y, algo muy importante, la propia estructura de hormigón del túnel. En este artículo se plantean soluciones de protección pasiva contra el fuego que tienen una incidencia muy positiva en la mejora de la resistencia al fuego de los túneles. </abstract>
