<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La energía es un recurso natural, necesario para el desarrollo humano y el progreso económico, que tiene un impacto creciente en nuestra calidad de vida. Lo mismo que ocurre con otros recursos de primera necesidad, es escaso y costoso, de ahí la importancia de incluir en el ciclo energético el concepto de competitividad. Además, tanto su producción como su distribución y consumo impactan en el medio ambiente, en mayor o menor medida según las fuentes y formas de consumo. </abstract>
