<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El agregado económico definido como ahorro nacional bruto es probablemente la magnitud macroeconómica que más debería interesar y preocupar a la sociedad porque en dicho agregado está implícito el futuro económico, tanto en los términos de crecimiento de la renta personal como en la evolución de los salarios y el empleo, ya que el ahorro bruto ± el saldo anual de las operaciones con el exterior debe financiar la formación bruta de capital de la nación. Así, el ahorro nacional bruto se convierte en una magnitud económica básica para explicar el desarrollo económico en cualquier país junto con el producto nacional bruto, los saldos anuales de las balanzas de pagos con el exterior y el saldo consolidado de las administraciones públicas. Cuatro macromagnitudes que constituyen el núcleo básico que explica el comportamiento económico de cualquier país. </abstract>
