<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En este artículo se analizan la competitividad, entendida en sentido amplio y el papel que ha desempeñado en la corrección reciente del déficit exterior español. En primer lugar, se describe la evolución que han presentado en los últimos años diferentes indicadores de competitividad precio y coste, así como, otros indicadores que reflejan aspectos relacionados con lo que se denomina competitividad-no precio. A continuación, se explotan los resultados obtenidos en la estimación de ecuaciones de demanda de exportación e importación de bienes y servicios de la economía española para valorar la naturaleza transitoria o permanente del ajuste del déficit exterior y el papel que la competitividad ha jugado en dicho proceso.</abstract>
