<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Reinsurance is coming under the spotlight as companies apply risk appetite to their strategic management. Over the last decade, the number of insurers worldwide that have developed risk appetite statements for their businesses has steadily risen. The recently published Willis Re Global Reinsurance and Risk Appetite Report 2016 shows that around two-thirds of insurers surveyed from 48 countries have a formal statement, with a further 17% planning to develop one.</abstract>
