<abstract displayLabel="Summary">In the last report on insurance M&A activity, they commented on the very high aggregate, deal value in 2015, with phrases such as "the return of the megadeal" being used to describe the transformational deal activity observed in the previous 12 months. It was explored that trend of sector transformation as the driver of high levels of deal activity, and we stated an expectation that such sector transformation would continue and, indeed, accelerate. Most of all, the global M&A trends indicate the inter-connectedness of global insurance M&A markets, with changes in investor appetite in one region having a knock on effect elsewhere.</abstract>
