<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The collection, analysis, and dissemination of unintentional injury and fatality statistics have been a focus for the national safety council since its inception. The first comprehensive statistical compendium ever produced relating to unintentional injuries and deaths was published in the early 1920s, shortly after the council was formed. since the 1920s, as a testament to its reliance on data as a measure of progress and guidance, statistical information has been published by the council on an annual basis without interruption, first as Accident Facts and more recently as Injury Facts</abstract>
