Sumario: Blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies (DLTs), when properly used, have the potential to transform the functioning of a wide range of industries, including the insurance industry in Europe. Potential impacts are currently being explored across sectors and by a variety of organisations. For example, the European Commission recently published a proposal for a regulation on markets in crypto-assets (MiCA), and a proposal for a regulation on a pilot regime for market infrastructures based on distributed ledger technology with the aim to provide a framework to allow for innovation in a way that preserves financial stability and protects consumers
