Underlying profitability also improved due to a lower underlying combined ratio and higher recurring investment income. The reinsurance industry´s underlying ROE improved markedly, building on the gradual recovery seen over the past 3-4 years, and the average ROE is now well above the industry´s cost of capital. Taking into account current interest rate levels and rate increases booked at renewals YTD, a further meaningful improvement is possible.
