<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Wildfires are currently out of control both physically and financially, with over 1.5 million acres burned in the U.S. alone. Factors increasing costs include continuous development without considering fire risks, historical fire suppression policies, and climate change. To mitigate impacts, measures include improving wildfire hazard maps, revising fire suppression policies, using fire-resistant materials, and innovating firefighting techniques. A coordinated global effort is needed, similar to the Global Earthquake Model, to develop new tools and knowledge</abstract>
