These incidents have provoked a societal rethinking of racial, social and economic justice, placing philanthropic organisations themselves under scrutiny for their role in perpetuating or challenging existing power imbalances. Since then, a clear line has been drawn connecting growing inequality and power imbalances with increasing polarisation and challenges to democracy.
