<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Dans la Directive du Conseil des Communautés Européennes du 26 novembre 1990, on entend par "agents biologiques", les microorganismes, y compris les microorganismes génétiquement modifiés, les cultures cellulaires et les endoparasites (parasites vivant à l'intérieur du corps de leur hôte) humains qui sont susceptibles de provoquer une infection, une allergie ou une intoxication. La Directive distingue les activités où des microorganismes sont utilisés délibérément (laboratoires de recherche, instalations de production des industries biotechnologiques... etc.), des activités qui n'impliquent pas une intention délibérée de travailler avec un agent biologique ou de l'utiliser, mais peuvent conduire à exposer les travailleurs à un agent biologique</abstract>
