Sumario: Studies from several countries on butchers and other meat workers have shown excess risks for several malignancies especially for lung cancer, prostatic cancer, leukaemia, and lymphoma. Various hypotheses have been considered to explain the excess cancers although adequate evidence of the causal role of occupational factors was not produced.
