520  ‎$a‎Toluene diisocyanates (TDI) are important industrial chemicals in the manufacture of polyurethane (PUR) foams, paints, coatings, and elastomers. Exposure to TDI may cause irritation of the mucous membranes and a progressive impairment of pulmonary function. It has sensitising properties and may cause allergic asthma. Further, commercial grade TDI is carcinogenic to animals. No increased overall incidence of cancer was, however, found among workers from the Swedish polyurethane foam manufacturing industry
