<subfield code="a">This paper describes work carried out in the laboratory and in the workplace, to quantify any difference which may be caused by the use of an aluminium cowl when sampling amosite. Simultaneous side-by-side comparisons were made of samples collected using an aluminium cowl an open Gelman sampling head. On the basis of both sets of results it appears that the use of an aluminium conducting cowl during the sampling of amosite does not have a significant effect on the measured fibre concentrations within the range 0.04-31 f ml exp.(-1) and 0.33-2.25 f ml exp.(-1) for static and personal samples, respectively</subfield>
