Un día después de que el Banco de España decidiera intervenir el Banco Español de Crédito, la Dirección General de Seguros hacía lo propio con la Unión y El Fénix Español (UFE), destituyendo a su Consejo y nombrando tres nuevos administradores, "para defender los intereses de la compañía y fortalecer su situación financiera". El nuevo órgano de gobierno ha apoyado el proyecto de fusión de UFE con AGF Seguros</abstract>
