Sumario: The aims of this paper are: to pose the most important issues related to the nature of human exposure to airbone chrysotile fibres; to summarize current knowledge on these issues; and to identify the key gaps in knowledge for those issues that limit our ability to realistically assess the risk for chrysotile-exposed humans. The most significant challenging task is to identify the major unresolved issues, in order to develop an efficient strategy for addressing them
