Sección: ArtículosTítulo: Factors influencing the production of dust during the hand sanding of wood / A. Thorpe, R.C. BrownAutor: Thorpe, A.Notas: Sumario: The sanding of wood is one of a large number of industrial processes producing dust that is injurious to health. Studies have been made of the production of dust by bench-mounted sanders and of the dust produced by hand sanders. In most instances studies have been directed at the implementation of the most effective dust control system. This article is concerned with a study of the parameters that influence the rate of dust production, and these are classifield into three types: the properties of the wood being sanded, in particular its density and hardness; the properties of the abrasive used in the sanding, in particular its grade; and the dynamics of the sandering, in particular its grade; and the dynamics of the sanding process, in particular the force applied and the area of contact between the abrasive and the woodRegistros relacionados: En: American Industrial Hygiene Association journal. - Akron, Ohio. - Vol. 56, nº 3, March 1995 ; p. 236-242Materia / lugar / evento: Higiene industrialMaderasPolvoToxicologíaAserradoOtros autores: Brown, R.C.
