<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The best way to protect humans from exposure to zoonoses, or diseases that transmit from animals to humans, is to identify and eliminate diseased herds. However, no scientific evidence proves that personal-protective equipment guards against exposure. In some cases equipment can actually increase the possibility of infection, experts say. Assessment studies should begin soon to determine the actual risk to government inspectors for bovine tuberculosis and brucellosis</abstract>
