Small firms that feel pinched by safety requirements, shouldn't. When they win contracts with large companies and must enhance their safety processes, the large companies are, in effect, paying then to be safe. Additionally, OSHA operates various programs and alliances encouraging the big to work with the small - particularly in areas like construction, where injury and illness rates are higher than in other industries
