<abstract>Los accidentes mortales son considerados generalmente como sucesos sobre los que se dispone de una cierta, aunque limitada información estadística, unida a una insuficiente actividad investigadora. Erroneamente son vistos como inevitables e imposibles de prevenir, por ello el Instituto de Higiene y Seguridad en el Trabajo reune los datos estadísticos recogidos habitualmente en las investigaciones, con el fin de aprovecharlos conjuntamente, orientando de forma más efectiva la actividad preventiva</abstract>
