<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Este estudio realizado por el Instituto Brasileño de Seguridad en el Tránsito(IST) estima el coste anual por accidentes de tráfico en 56.700 millones de reales. El IST ha tenido en cuenta los daños materiales, la pérdida de producción, los costes médicos y de emergencia, los costes para la seguridad social y los costes con seguros, entre otros. Se han recopilado datos de velocidad en trece regiones de la Ciudad de São Paulo entre los días 15 y 19 de octubre para estimar la proporción de vehículos que exceden los límites máximos de velocidad en las vías. Se han escogido estos tramos porque son zonas con usuarios vulnerables. Se han realizado 3.796 observaciones válidas en trece lugares diferentes de la ciudad. De las observaciones realizadas, 10,2% de los vehículos excedieron el  límite de velocidad de la vía</abstract>
