Para tener y mantener un programa de seguridad valedero y operativo, la alta dirección de las empresas debe hacerse responsable de la seguridad, así como del establecimiento de los objetivos necesarios para alcanzar niveles satisfactorios en este aspecto. Todas las grandes compañías han desarrollado programas integrales de seguridad que cubren las responsabilidades derivadas de daños a las personas, plantas, edificios y medio ambiente, así como la comunidad circundante.</abstract>
