<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El Derecho de seguros es uno de los ámbitos más prolíficos en la aparición de nuevas instituciones mercantiles. La razón detrás de esa fecundidad se puede encontrar en el objetivo, compartido por todos los empresarios, de limitar los riesgos en el ejercicio de su empresa. Una de las novedosas figuras, que ha recibido su configuración definitiva en el magma que en la actualidad es el moderno Derecho de seguros, es la sociedad cautiva de reaseguro, nacida para suscribir los riesgos de su propietario y de reciente reconocimiento legal por el Derecho comunitario europeo. Sobre este tema se centra el artículo de Santiago Hierro Anibarro y Carlos A. Castillo Plaza de la Universidad de Alcalá, aparecido en la Revista Gerencia de Riesgos y Seguros N° 110 de Fundación MAPFRE, que reproducimos a continuación. </abstract>
